of the whole-day transportation. Tour the deep hutongs in Shichahai
area. Visit to Prince Gong's Mansion and the Bell Tower. You

bargains with sellers! After that, return to your hotel.
Prince Gong's Mansion: It
is firstly built in Ming Dynasty. Nowadays, a few such mansions
dating from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) are still standing. The
Mansion is the most exquisitely decorated and best preserved
of the princes' mansions in the capital city. Besides the residence
there is also a large garden.
Bell Tower: The Drum and
Bell towers are situated at the northern end of the central
axis of the Beijing Inner City to the north of Di' anmen Street.
It was built in 1272 during the reign of Kublai Khan, at which
time it stood at the very heart of the Yuan capital Dadu. The
Drum Tower ever housed 24 drums in ancient times, of which only
one survives. The Bell Tower originally housed a huge iron bell.
But because its tolling was not loud enough, this was replaced
by a massive cast bronze bell over 10 inches thick that is in
perfect condition today.
Lama Temple: The largest Tibetan Buddhist Lama Temple in
Beijing. It was built in the 33rd year of Kangxi Reign in the
Qing Dynasty (1694) as the mansion for Emperor Yongzheng when
he was a prince. In the third year of the third Qing Emperor
Yongzheng Reign (1725), it was made an imperial palace for short
stays, named ¡°Yonghe Gong¡± (Gong means
palace in Chinese.). In 1744, the ninth year of the Qianlong
Reign, it was converted into a lamasery.
Market: a free market near the embassy area where
you can find a number of duplicates of clothing in traditional
Chinese style such as clothes, caps, gloves. Enjoy bargains
with sellers! Return to your hotel.
